Senior Finance Director Retail
The Vail Resorts Finance Team is committed to Building Leaders and Driving Value. We are hiring for our Senior Director of Financial Planning & Analysis for Vail Resorts Retail. Vail Resorts Retail is a $293 million revenue business that is integral to Vail Resorts' vertically integrated mountain resort model. The Senior Director will develop a comprehensive view of financial results and performance to help drive strategic decision making, growth objectives, strategic planning and capital prioritization.

This leader will report directly to the CFO, with matrix reporting to the COO of Vail Resorts Retail. The Senior Director will lead a team of finance professionals to support the objectives of the role. The leader will be a member of the CFO's leadership team and serve on the Retail leadership team as well.


+ Lead Financial Planning and Analysis Functions including:

+ Operational Analysis to drive performance and decision making

+ Annual Operating Budget

+ Monthly Financial Analysis and Forecasting for enterprise level leaders through CFO reviews, Board of Directors meeting prep and regularly scheduled Business updates as well as to lead monthly business reviews for the Retail leadership team at the Divisional, Regional and Product category level.

+ Annual Capital Planning, tracking and forecasting

+ Long-term Strategic Planning

+ Develop and manage internal FP&A communications, including key business presentations to the Retail SLT and Executive Team of Vail Resorts.

+ Lead efforts to drive continuous improvement in financial analysis, reporting and planning with both process optimization and technology solutions to include a significant focus on thoughtful integration into Corporate Finance team and process.

+ Deliver insights on critical business decisions

+ Actively contribute to capital prioritization, ROI analysis, approvals and decision making

+ Business Support & Accountability

+ Develop outstanding relationships across Vail Resorts Retail and Vail Resorts Finance

+ Own all aspects of the financial results for Vail Resorts Finance including holding business leaders accountable for plans, variances and insights

+ Lead all aspects of the financial integration of acquisitions and new store additions, including financial results, costs and systems

+ Trusted partner: The Senior Director possesses the technical expertise, communication skills and good judgement to provide the senior leadership team with an objective and independent point of view on retail finance and broader business issues. S/he has a proven track record of working well as a member of a team of senior executives, an ability to influence major decisions through reasoned analysis, and good judgment about people and business issues.

+ Leadership and management: The Senior Director has a demonstrated track record of leading a team of finance professionals, managing, developing and motivating them. + Passion for Vail Resorts' strategy and product and a passion to better integrate Vail Resorts Retail into the broader company.

+ Play a critical role on the CFO's leadership team, bringing an enterprise level perspective to support the strategic, talent and process improvement efforts in the Finance organization


+ Outstanding academic credentials; Bachelor's degree required; MBA, graduate finance degree and/or CFA strongly preferred.

+ 10+ years' experience in financial planning and analysis, Retail finance or similar business model with demonstrated success in financial modeling, analysis and budgeting.

+ Experience leading all financial planning and analysis functions including annual budget, capital budgeting, long-term strategic planning and resource allocation processes.

+ Outstanding analytical skills with ability to synthesize information, develop insights and communicate effectively in presentations and in person meetings.

+ Deep curiosity and passion for understanding and analyzing financial results in the context of creating shareholder value.

+ Excellent communication skills with significant experience working with Senior Executives.

+ Ability to operate in a fast-paced environment with strong initiative and ability to multi-task.

+ Superb attention to detail balanced by ability to focus on the "big picture".

+ Effectively manage and build capabilities and culture for high performing professional team.
